Commenting on blogs

Today I am writing a very different post. I don't have a picture of anything I created to show you but I have some input that I hope will help some of you.

I know in recent times some people have had a terrible time trying to comment on blogs. On some blogs it worked and on some not. The problem, which seems to have something to do with a session conflict when using blogger, lies on the commentor's side rather than on the blog's side.

Splashing with ink

As I mentioned in my last blog post, I had been creating some backgrounds with inks and watercolors. This background started out with two Simon Says Stamp inks smooshed onto my glass mat - Hive Dive and Apricot. I sprayed them with water and carefully laid my paper into the liquid. I wanted them to apply to my paper, but not create mud. You can see some specks of the Apricot ink in the bottom left hand corner of the background. I wanted that there to kind of give a whimsy sort of ground appearance.

After I had added these two inks and they were dry, I put some Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks on my mat and applied water. I then dragged my paper through those colors, being sure not to cover the specks of Apricot. And so in fascinated abandon, I applied color to my paper, layer by layer.

Lovely Ava

Hi again today with another card to show you. This image is the one for this month's Outlawz Progressive Challenge February 2019. Her name is Ava and she from Di's Digi Stamps.

I printed her out through Silhouette Studio so that I could place her exactly where I wanted her on the cardpanel and also that I could trace her and cut a mask with the shape. She was printed on Daler-Rowney Drawing paper.

Butterfly Silhouette

My blog has been a little quiet in the last few days. It is season here in Florida and so all of us in the hospitality industry are quite busy. I do have some projects lined up to show you in the next while though, so here we go.

I recently won the prize over at the Butterfly Challenge for creating a card using all the elements of the wheel and one part of my prize was this beautiful butterfly stamp. It came in the mail all the way across the pond. 

White on white

Happy Friday to all my friends in blogland. It has been so much fun meeting new crafty friends and looking at all your wonderful makes.

Today I have another card that features some work done with my Silhouette machine. I had this background called "wildflower frame" by Teresa Collins that I had got from the Silhouette store eons ago and have never used. I adapted it to fit my 5.5x5.5 inch card and cut it out of white cardstock. I then glued it (which was quite a mission I might tell you) to a white cardbase to provide a delicately textured background. But I think it was well worth the effort

The Mushroom House

Welcome to a new challenge at World Wide Open Design Team challenge blog. If you are a member of any design team in the world, you are welcome to enter the fun Anything Goes challenge. Julia Spiri is the sponsoring artist for the challenges there and her artwork is such fun to color.

This month I am using the image Mushroom House. The enchantment of the image makes it such fun to color. I used the mushroom class in the Kit & Clowder Elements of Nature class to practice the single shrooms that I have in my project. 

Mice Valentine

Today I have a very traditional Valentine's Day card to share with you - well maybe traditional as far as the colors used are concerned.

The focal image on this card is from the Very Mice Coloring Book Volume 1 and then from the page Berry mice! 

Fancy Flowers

I was recently given this digi by my friend Tracey of Tracey Gurley Designs. She has a great array of handpainted clipart and digital papers in her shop, but this image I got as lineart so I could color it with my trusty pencils.

I created a cardpanel in Silhouette Studio as I wanted to have the word BIRTHDAY cut into the panel so that the cardbase would peek out from behind. Once I was happy with the panel, I added the image in Silhouette Studio and then using the print and cut option, printed the image and then cut out the cardpanel. I used Daler-Rowney Drawing paper.

CAS Birthday Card

I have another CAS card to show you today. I recently learned that Scrappers Delights was starting up another progressive challenge with this cutie and so I wanted to participate. You can get the image for free from the Scrappers Delights Facebook group, so head over there and get on board.

Since I wanted to show case the image, I opted for a CAS card to show her off. I printed her on Canson XL Watercolor paper so that the card could be truly one layer. I colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I tried a new color combo for her black hair, integrating some blue into it as well. I was not too sure about it during the process, but once she was completed I really liked the blue tint.

A sky of Butterflies

Today I am playing along again at the Butterfly Challenge blog and this time the letter is K. Here is the wheel:

The idea is to use some or all of the elements in the wheel on the project. The project must have a butterfly on it though, that is mandatory.

I created a 5.5x5.5 cardbase for my project and created a card panel out of some beautiful patterned paper from my stash that was covered in butterflies. It reminds me of those pictures you see of the butterfly migrations where the sky is filled with wings. The paper included both the colors Kobe and Kobi, so it was perfect. I matted it onto a piece of Kelly Green cardstock.

Colored die cuts

I am still playing with the January Spellbinders Small Die of the Month club. This time I cut all the pieces out of Strathmore Paint Pad paper and colored them with my Prismacolor colored pencils. That way I could add some dimension. I colored the face with some shading under the hairline. I used the shirt die for the lady's top and the dress die to create a maxi-skirt into which I colored some pleats.

Paper Dolls

The Spellbinders Small Die of the Month club for January was the cutest couple of dolls. The set contains 21 dies and allows for a lot of customization of the dolls. Due to a glitch, I only received mine a few days ago. So now I had to play.

For this card I did not do any customization on the dolls other than choosing the color of their outfits. I cut the faces, arms and the little girl's legs from cream colored cardstock. Each one got slightly different color hair. The hair die not only cuts out the hair, but also embosses texture into it - very cool.

One Red Heart

Today I am using this digi that Julia Spiri kindly gave to members of the Kit and Clowder Facebook group. Isn't she sweet?

Happy Birthday Mr C.

It is hubby's birthday and of course I made him a card. He is the reason I am so in love with my pencils (and him too, of course). Since I am usually the one that gets roses throughout the year, I decided he needed some for his birthday and so I colored up this image from Power Poppy's Everything's Rosy Digital Stamp Set.

The Purple Rose

For my project I used the image "Valentine" Single Rose. I printed it out through Silhouette Studio onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper and colored it up with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I love purple roses and so that is what this one became.

With Sympathy

Sympathy cards are often the hardest to make, most particularly when the person that it is going to is not really someone we are familiar with. That was the case with this card, so I decided to keep it simple and elegant.

I used a retired Stampin' Up stamp from my stash as my focal point on this card and stamped it on to Canson Bristol Vellum paper with Versafine Onyx black ink and then covered the ink with clear embossing powder. I stamped the sentiment, also a Stampin' Up stamp in my stash, with Versafine Onyx black ink onto silver metallic cardstock and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Buttons and bows

Here I am back with another House Mouse project. The current challenge over at the House Mouse Monday Challenge blog is Buttons and/or Bows. I had the perfect stamp for that and I am nearly late!

Silence...
