Splashing with ink

As I mentioned in my last blog post, I had been creating some backgrounds with inks and watercolors. This background started out with two Simon Says Stamp inks smooshed onto my glass mat - Hive Dive and Apricot. I sprayed them with water and carefully laid my paper into the liquid. I wanted them to apply to my paper, but not create mud. You can see some specks of the Apricot ink in the bottom left hand corner of the background. I wanted that there to kind of give a whimsy sort of ground appearance.

After I had added these two inks and they were dry, I put some Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks on my mat and applied water. I then dragged my paper through those colors, being sure not to cover the specks of Apricot. And so in fascinated abandon, I applied color to my paper, layer by layer.

Once my page was to my liking, I cut it down and adhered it to a green cardbase. Then using the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month club November 2018 kit, I cut the words Merry Christmas and the sweet deer out of black glitter cardstock and glued them to my card. The deer got a neck bow from a scrap of the pink panel that I had done the background with on my previous post.

This may be a bit of a non-traditional Christmas card, but I enjoyed creating it.
