The Pumpkins

It is the first of August today and time for a new challenge over at Crafts Galore Encore. Our sponsor this month is Fred She Said and I got to work with the Pumpkin & Sunflower digi.

I designed my card in Silhouette Studio as I mostly seem to do nowadays. I created a square 5.5x5.5 inches and filled it with one of the beautiful papers from the Pumpkin Delight collection by We Are 3. I then sized the digi so that it fitted into the middle of the doily, but moved it onto another mat in the software as I wanted to cut it out seperately so that I could layer it. I printed the paper square onto white cardstock and the pumpkin digis onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper.

I colored the digi with my Prismacolor colored pencils, using the Kit and Clowder Fall Harvest bonus class to help me with the pumpkins. Once completed, I returned to the Silhouette to cut my colored image out and then ran a black marker around the cut edge. I cut the shape a second time from black cardstock. I have newly found that mounting an image onto black cardstock rather than white gives a much cleaner looking edge.

I completed my card by cutting a circle of vellum just slightly smaller than the doily printed on the digital paper. This provides a little backing for the pumpkin arrangement. I adhered the image to the card and then created the sentiment by cutting the letters with a Quickutz font die set and stamping the "for you" in Versamark ink and applying white embossing powder. The whole panel was then added to a 5.5x5.5 inch cardbase.
