It is time for the Crash Your Stash challenge over at Outlawz. This is a fun challenge where you are provided with a cue of something to use out of your stash that you may not have used for a long time. This month the cue is Embossing Powder.
I returned the page to the Silhouette and added two more hummingbird shapes before cutting the page out. I ran a black marker around the edge of the colored hummingbird. I colored the edges of the white shapes with a black marker and then glued the shapes together. I stamped the sentiment in the corner of my cardpanel using a stamp from the Power Poppy Geraniums Take Two stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I covered the ink with detail clear embossing powder.
My "flower" is made with a previous Spellbinders Small die of the Month die set. I cut the layers out and glued all of them together except the top layer. Using Versamark ink, I added clear embossing powder to the top die cut. Constantly adding more ink and more powder as the layers cooled, I added a total of 3 layers of powder and the shapes are beautifully shiny and raised. I then glued the top layer to the lower layers and arranged the shapes on my cardpanel. I then added the hummingbird and finally added the cardpanel to a dark purple cardbase.
Embossing powder is such a fun medium to use. It adds a beautiful touch to cards and I would love to see your creation in our challenge. I know some of you do gorgeous embossing work. Please come and join our Crash Your Stash challenge this month in Outlawz.

ReplyDeleteI love the clever way you crashed your stash with embossing powder on this card, Monica. Layering it on die cuts is fabulous way to add interest to them. Your flower is gorgeous. I also like the way you layer your die cuts for dimension. You always remind me of all the ways I can play with my die cuts to make them more interesting. xo Nancy
