Mom and girls

Time for another challenge at Cute 'N Crafty and this time the theme is "family". Our sponsor is Sherri Baldy and I got to work with this sweet digi called Mom & My Two Girls.

And this is my first coloring attempt on my new paper. I finally found the correct Canson Drawing paper that I have been looking for and so I got myself a pad. It is pure white and wow, it is nice to work with. I created my card in Silhouette Studio, creating a rectangle at 5.5x4.25 inches and filling it with a pretty plaid from the Spring Plaids digital paper collection by Perwinkle Pixel Shop. I added some skinny rectangles to the edges to frame the card and filled them with the darker purple from the plaid - choosing the color with the eyedropper tool. I then added the digi and resized it on the card front. I added a circle behind them and then using the Edit Points tool, I added points and pulled the existing points so that I could create a shape that mimicked their outline. I chose to color this shape a light yellow from the plaid and then also decreased the opacity so that it was very light. I then printed the image out and colored the ladies with my Prismacolor colored pencils. Again I have to say, the paper made a difference. I will try it some more on other images, but if it works like this always, I am sold. I added the white dots and stripes with a white gel pen.

Once I had completed the coloring, I returned the image to my Silhouette and cut the rectangle out and adhered it to the front of a cardbase. I cut the word hello out of purple cardstock and stacked two die cuts together before adding it to the front of my card.

We look forward to seeing your family themed projects over in our challenge at Cute 'N Crafty. You have a month to enter.
