Stars and Back

I am a little better organized so far this month and have completed my Outlawz Progressive Challenge project. I enjoy participating here so much, it has been a lot of fun to check my email on the first of every month to see what the new image is. This month, it is this sweet digi from All Dressed up called Stars and Back.

I printed the image out onto blue Canson Mi-Tientes paper and colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I wanted to try adding knitted texture to the girl's cap and took some help from Annabel Haines' blog post called How I colour knitting texture. I was very happy with the result. I colored the rest of the girl, adding some earth detail to the sphere that she is standing on. I added a white stripe down the two sides and a light blue stripe down the middle of the background, but did not lose the tooth of the textured paper to provide a contrast to the smoothness of the coloring on the girl. I then cut my image out with a stitched tag die.

I completed my card by adding foam tape to the back of the tag, threading a ribbon through the hole and adding it at an angle to a card that I had prepared. I used a light purple cardbase and added a piece of patterned paper that sort of resembled stars and had covered the middle section with a piece of vellum so that the paper would not distract from the digi. I finally added a few nailart stars to the right hand side of the girl.

Thank you All Dressed Up for this month's free digi for the Outlawz Progressive Challenge. I am excited to see what next month's image is.
