This first card is made with a panel of Distress Oxide inks in Seedless Preserves, Chipped Saphire and Black Soot blended together with a blending foam tool on Bristol Smooth paper. I just applied the colors randomly, imitating a night sky look. Once the inks were dry, I applied water through a firework stencil and then dabbed it off after lifting the stencil carefully. It left this sort of subtle firework display in my sky.
I completed the card by adding the panel to a white cardbase and added a die cut sentiment that I had cut out twice of white cardstock and stuck together. I did not want to add too much to take away from the water effect on the inks.
My second card is similar, except that I blended Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron in a gradient onto the Bristol Smooth paper. I must say that the Bristol Smooth does allow the inks to blend really well. Once the ink was dry, I sprayed water onto it lightly and then dabbed the droplets off.
I completed the card with a small flower bouquet in white and a sentiment that is a combo of stamping and die cutting. The flower centers and the Hugs word are colored with Peacock Feathers ink to coordinate with the background.
If you make a card with a die cut and a sentiment, please share it with us in our Crafty Chefs group.

ReplyDeleteWonderful cards, Monica. I've never worked with oxide inks but I really love what you've created. The idea of using water and a stencil would never have occurred to me. Fabulous result!
ReplyDeleteOoo! What an amazing first card, Monica. The effect of discoloration of places wetted with water is the most beautiful property of DO. I love the colors you used, they make an amazing mix for your exploding fireworks.
ReplyDeleteI also love the second card, she is so cute and has my favorite colors :-)
xx
Hi Monica! I'm loving both cards, those Oxides are gorgeously blended! Made me sit up and pay attention. Now that I've acquired most of them, I do need to play and blending them like this is a great way to do that. I know you always mention your paper but this time I listened and guess what, I have some 100# Strathmore 300 Bristol! I'm all set! THANKS! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love DO inks, unfortunately I don't have many of them. On the other hand, well-chosen sets of colors can give a truly magical background. I love the blast of fiery fires on the first card and the wonderful dreamy background of the second card. Both cards are brilliant, Monica
