Moo-velous!

It is Friday again. How do the weeks (and months) fly by so fast? Anyway, I am playing along with the Imagine That Digistamp's Progressive Challenge and this month the image is called Pretty Calf. It came with some image variations and a few sentiments.

So I decided to try an idea on my Silhouette Cameo. I had this background pattern and I wanted to add the calf and the sentiment, merging them with the background so that it was all one layer. Using the subtract function, I got it sort of there. It cut the image and the sentiment out as separate pieces from the background, but did leave spaces for them so I could just inlay them again on the cardbase and it was still all one layer - although not quite what I was going for.

I used Canson C' a Grain Drawing paper and colored the calf in with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I have included the color combos that I used in the freebie linked below. Pencils always need layers and for the black I used a darker pencil for the highlight on my first layer and a lighter pencil on the second layer. I have stated that in the download. I used soft pastels and a Q-tip (earbud) to add the blue to the background and a gold gel pen for the bow and the frame.

The sentiment came with the digi and I think it is so cute! I will surely be revisting this merging of a background and an image again as I would like it to cut out as one piece. If you have any tips, they would be much appreciated. To complete my card, I glued all the cutout pieces to the front of a light green cardbase.

The color combo download sheet can be downloaded here, please just follow my blog before you do so.

  7. Wow, your coloring is fabulous, Monica. As always! I love that you used this digi set because I did buy this one even tho I don't do the challenge. I'm just ornery that way...Kris knows and understands. :-) Anyway, now I have a pretty sample to save and a coloring sheet for it. THANK YOU! I just finished a card where I could use only gold, black and cream, and I thought oh I will finally use my gold metallic Prismacolor pencil. But I can't find it! Had to color my image with a Wink of Stella! I'm flabergasted but it worked! I need to order some metallic pencils in different colors for when I have tiny stuff to color. xoxo
