Tea time at Outlawz

Can you believe that it is the August 1 already? I cannot. But here we are, believe it or not and today I get to share this DT card that I made for the new Outlawz Progressive Challenge. Remember it is free to join and you will get the new image every month if you have created with the last month's image. This month our sponsor is The Paper Shelter and we are using the digi called It's Tea Time.

Using Silhouette Studio, as I mostly do for card designs, I printed her out onto Canson C' a Grain Drawing paper. This is my favorite paper to use with my pencils. I print onto the smooth side and it has enough tooth to hold the pigment, but two layers of coloring mostly suffices. After coloring her with my Prismacolor colored pencils, I returned her to the Silhouette to cut her out. I cut her shape a second time out of black cardstock. I ran a black marker along the cut edge of the colored digi and glued the two pieces together.

I wanted to go for a sort of vintage look on my card here and so I chose the green plaid paper to back her onto as it reminded me of a tablecloth. I cut the frame from gold mirror cardstock using a Spellbinders die. I ran the green plaid paper through the die cutting machine with the frame die too and then inlayed the center piece into the gold frame. I created a black 5.5x5.5 cardbase and added a piece of patterned paper from a 6x6 paper pad in my stash. The teacups are cut from brown cardstock with a die from my stash and the word Tea is a Spellbinders die. I arranged the elements on the front of my card and trimmed off the part of the frame and the inlay that was hanging over the right edge.

We look forward to see all the project made this month with this lady drinking her tea. Come and join us at the Outlawz Progressive Challenge, you have a month to enter.

  1. Oh, I just looked at this image for the first time a couple of hours ago and had no idea how I was going to use it, Monica. But I really love all the patterns and layers and die cuts you put together for this magnificent card! I know I'm going to have to CASE the coffee cup die cut (if I can find my stacked cups die) and I do love the plaid paper. Thanks so much for the inspiration, my friend.
