Outlawz's Birthday!

I was able to go "shopping" last night in a new-to-me digi store - Imagine That digistamp. I had won a voucher from the store in a previous challenge win and so I got to browse the store. Kris and her daughter have lovely digis, you should stop by. I found this boot planter digi there and decided that was the perfect image for a birthday card for Outlawz, who is celebrating their 8th birthday.

The celebrations include a challenge and a blog hop, so be sure to check in. I made a card with a difference. This is the first time I created a card with purely digital elements. The digi is the precolored one that comes in the Cowboy Cactus Planter digi set.

Each digi that you download from Imagine That digistamp has a lineart image, a precolored image and some sentiments in it. The paper I used is a digital paper from the free Gertie Goose Pie set.

I designed the layout of my card in Silhouette Studio. I had imported the boot image and traced around it and then added an offset to the original trace. I colored the fill of the offset by using the fill tool and the color picker from the dots of the digital paper. The wording is filled with the background color of the paper using the color picker. I added an oval shape around the words and filled that with the same dot color as the offset of the boots.

Once I had the sizing correct, I separated the various elements onto the page so that I could print and cut. One cannot see it in the pic, but the digital paper has a 3.75x5.5 inch rectangle on it and that then cut that shape out of the paper when I placed the printout in my Silhouette Portrait.

Once all the parts were cutout, I placed the background paper on a cardbase and adhered the boot planter. I popped the sentiment up on foam tape for a bit of dimension.

While this is a quick way to put a card together, I missed coloring the image and will definitely be doing so on the lineart version in the future.
