A shaker card

It is Friday again and today I am back with a new result of a challenge between BożenA and I. It was my turn to choose the topic this time and I chose a shaker card. This is a technique that I use very little and decided that it was time to do so and what better motivation than a challenge!

A few days after I nominated the challenge topic, I received my Waffle Flower Sneak Peek kit that I subscribe to and can you believe it - it was all about shaker cards. Even had a molded shaker window in it in the shape of a butterfly. So I got to work.

I used the stencil in the kit to create a background. I realized after I had completed it that I should have moved the stencil before doing the bottom part of the butterfly, but I actually liked the "artsy" look and decided it worked on this shaker card. I used the window dies included to cut the window and the frame and inserted the molded window.

I created the shaker elements by inking cardstock and using a mini punch to cut out the star shapes - making them match the darker colors on the background butterflies. I completed the card by stamping a sentiment from the stampset included in the kit and embossing it with clear embossing powder.

I am excited to see BożenA's shaker card. I invite you to head over to her blog and see what she has made and leave her a comment while you are there.

  2. Monica, wonderful card! I love the metallic outline of the shaker butterfly, I see this solution for the first time and it looks amazing. I also love the wonderful background you created for your card. These butterflies are really beautiful and so fabulously colorful. Thank you for this challenge, I haven't made a shaker card in a long time and it was really great fun :-)
