Natural Element

Today's project is another joint challenge between myself and BożenA of Art Card Box. It was her turn to call the theme and she chose "Use something from nature". So the card had to have some element on it that was either a part of a plant or for which a plant was used. Well, I live in the desert! Although the world is green here at the moment thanks to the monsoons, that is not the norm. But what we do have all year round are cacti and cacti have thorns and thorns look like unicorn horns. So I could combine nature with the magical - I think that is a win.

I have this stamp and die set in my stash from Mama Elephant with two unicorns, a castle and a rainbow.  I stamped them with Versafine ink onto Bristol Smooth cardstock and colored them with my Arteza Brush markers and water. I added Wink of Stella to the unicorns. I then cut the images out with the dies. I stamped the sentiment, also from the same set, on the top a 4x5.25 inch panel, also with Versafine ink. Using a skinny embossing folder from my stash, I embossed a strip across the cardpanel and put the cardpanel onto a white top-folding cardbase with foam tape. I placed the little images onto the card front and added the cactus thorns to the unicorns.

I am excited to see BożenA's project. She lives in a green part of the world so she would have a lot of choices for this project. Please visit her blog post and also leave her a comment while you are there.

  4. Ah, Monica! You made me smile when you saw your card. But you cleverly solved the problem with the vegetable element. And so I was wondering what you would come up with, and I would never have come up with the idea of a cactus thorn. The card is so cute and, as you rightly noticed, very magical. Monica, it's been a lot of fun with you as always. Now it's your turn to come up with a topic for the challenge. I'm looking forward :-)

    hugs,
    BozenA.
