The Coins

It is April already, I cannot believe it! Anyway, here I am with my take on the latest challenge between BożenA and myself and this time I chose the topic. I decided we needed to have something quite different this time and so my suggestion was to make three AT Coins - each one displaying our most favorite technique or card making method. It is different working on the small size and round shape.

AT Coins are 2.5 inches in diameter and one usually glues three cardstock circles together so that the coin is indeed stiff. So I started the project by cutting nine white circles at 2.5 inches in diameter.

I most favorite technique, and therefore my first coin, is pencil coloring on the focal image and then adding a die cut sentiment. I used this cute Vintage Teacup image from The Paper Shelter, printed it out onto Canson C' a Grain Drawing paper and colored it with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I then cut it out and glued it to one of the coins. The sentiment is from an Altenew die set that actually cuts banner sentiments, but the letters were perfect for my little format.

My second most favorite technique is layering die cuts. For this coin I cut out the flower and leaves from an Altenew die set and layered up the pieces. I cut a circle from black cardstock, splashed some gold metallic watercolor onto it, heat embossed a sentiment with white embossing powder and then added it to the second coin. I completed it with the die cut flower and leaves.

A third technique took some thought, but I settled on emboss resist. I heat embossed the flower bouquet with white and gold embossing powder and then blended three Distress Oxide inks over it. I then added the stamped sentiment and butterfly in Versafine Onyx black ink. Once it was dry, I added this circle to the third coin.
