The dolls

The start of June means that we have new challenge over at Crafts Galore Encore and as always the theme is Anything Goes. Our sponsor this month is Vera Lane Studio and the prize is 2 digi sets. I was given the Matryoshkas digi set to work with and the idea for this card popped into my head immediately.

Using Silhouette Studio, I sized four of the one digi and one of the one with the rose on her so that they would be step sized as these Russian dolls are in real life. I printed them out onto sand Canson Mi-tientes paper and colored the one doll that is different to the others with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I added a few highlights with my white gel pen.

Once I had completed the coloring, I returned the page to Silhouette Studio to cut all the dolls out. I ran a black marker along the cut edge to finish them off. I made a 5x7 cardbase in landscape orientation and added patterned paper from my stash to create a floor and wallpaper look. I then arranged the five dolls from largest to smallest on my card, spacing them evenly across it. I glued the uncolored ones down and then popped the colored one up with foam tape and added her to the front of the gang.

I printed the sentiment out on my computer onto white cardstock and cut it down to make a banner.

You have the whole month of June to enter the challenge at Crafts Galore Encore and have a chance to win the prize sponsored by Vera Lane Studio. We look forward to seeing your creations.

  4. Monica, I love your idea to color just the one doll! It really gives the eye a place to focus on the beauty of the image! I think the Vera Lane images are so awesome. Your coloring is gorgeous. In my opinion, your pencil coloring is the best I've ever seen. Your blends are seamless! Great job!
