Mousey Carollers

Here I am with a DT inspiration project for the Cute 'N Crafty Christmas challenge blog. The theme there is always Anything Goes Christmas and this month our sponsor is Hetty Clare Art Store and the prize is 2 digis. I got to work with Christmas Carolers.

This is another card design that I have merged the digital with the hand colored. I designed in  Silhouette Studio. First I created a rectangle sized at 5.5x4.25 inches. Then I duplicated that rectangle and placed the second one exactly over the first one and then pulled the top border down so to create the area that was to be the paving. I filled the large rectangle with a sky pattern and the smaller one with a brick pattern. Then I worked with the sizing of the brick pattern so that the bricks were sized correctly for my card. I also recently discovered that one can do simple color balance, hue and saturation changes to images in Silhouette Studio and so I adjusted the hue of the sky to make it a night sky rather than the bright blue that it was. Lastly I placed the image on the card as the top layer and sized it accordingly and printed the whole design out onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper.

I colored the carolers with my Prismacolor colored pencils. Since I had the dark night sky background, I opted to give them bright Christmas colored outfits. I colored the holly, berries and bow around the lamp with glitter gel pen as all Christmas cards must have some sparkle - must they not? I added some detail on the one mouse's dress and scarf with a white gel pen. Once I had completed the coloring, I returned the page to the Silhouette and cut the design out.

I added my sentiment by stamping with Versamark ink and embossing with white embossing powder. I then adhered the panel to a cardbase.

  5. Wow, so much detail on how you did this on the Silhouette! Honestly, I am still at the level of cutting a solid colored piece out. I have no idea how to do almost anything. This card is really lovely. You have so much talent!!!
