Truly one layer

Today is time for my second project for Jan's Digital Stamps Challenge blog for this month and this month I am showing that digital stamps and elements are great to use when creating digital card fronts that can then just be printed on heavyweight cardstock and easily sent in the mail.

For this card I created an area in Procreate that is 4x5.25 inches as my digital card panel. I used a butterfly from the Butterfly Frame digi set. The sentiment is also from that same set. I have linked it below in the image. I added the butterfly in its own layer and colored it using the butterfly as a reference layer which allowed me to add the color below it. Using clipping mask and alphalock, I then added shading to parts of the butterfly. Once colored, I merged the layers so that the butterfly would be one entity. I then resized it on my cardpanel.

I added a layer below the butterfly on which I drew a wider black outline and then reduced the opacity way down to create the shadow under the butterfly. This served two purposes, namely to pop the butterfly up and also to give it definition from the background. I colored the black sentiment white and then added the splatters on the background with one of Procreate's texture brushes.

I would like to invite you to join us at Jan's Digital Stamp Shop Challenge Blog. The challenge still runs for the remainder of the month and it is Anything Goes. Would love to see some of your digital art too!

  6. You are brilliant with this technique. Procreation in Polish means reproduction, so I'm a bit perplexed as to what this word means in English, hahaha?
