Use only Dies

Today it is time to show case the results of the next challenge between BożenA and I and this time it was my turn to give the theme. I decided to go with my second favorite card-making technique and that is using dies. So the challenge was "Use only Dies". No stamps, no coloring medium, no embossing folders. Only dies and cardstock or patterned paper.

I have seen many people create beautiful white and gold cards, so this was my chance to try it out. I created a white card base and added two music score die cuts as a background. I used Stick It adhesive on the back of the cardstock before running it through the die cutting machine. It was then easy to get them positioned on my card.

I cut both the sentiment and the focal flower outline twice each out of white cardstock and once each out of gold foil cardstock. I again used Stick It adhesive on the cardstock before cutting it out so that putting the layers together happened without trouble. The gold die cuts have dimension due to the layers underneath in comparison to the white music scores that are flat on the card base.

I am excited to see what BożenA has done for her interpretation of this challenge. Please head over to her blog and take a look. Leave her a comment while you are there.

  2. I need to have a notepad handy when I visit your blog. I always learn some handy little hint, but I never remember them. Today a start a notebook! I love how you put the paper layers together before cutting with the dies. I have a Xyron I may try that. I bought the Xyron not sure if I would use it. Now I use it all the time. I love this card. I didn't see the music notes at first. (Not wearing my glasses while I do this!) They look beautiful, too. Have to try it.

  7. I love this gorgeous card, Monica. The gold and white are so crisp and elegant. The white music notes make such a pretty background for your gold die cuts. I hope you have a very happy, safe Thanksgiving. xo
