Experimenting

Happy Monday! It is the start of a new week and can you believe it that we have already started May? Today I have a card to show you that stemmed from a video I watched on YouTube about combining label dies with coordinating dies for stamps and making a single focal point unit. I decided that that was doable on my Silhouette too.

I used Morgan's Artworld's Valentine Single rose as my image and created a cutline around it. I then welded a label shape with it so that my Silhouette cut the label shape and the parts of the rose that protruded from the top and the bottom of the label. I then printed this out onto Canson C' a Grain Drawing paper and colored the rose with my Prismacolor colored pencils. Once I had done the coloring, I returned the page to the Silhouette and cut the shape out. I was thrilled with the outcome. I then cut the shape a second time from white cardstock. I ran a black marker along the edges of both shapes and glued them together.

I completed my card by using a top-folding cardbase and adhering a full-sized ochre colored cardpanel. I cut another panel out of plaid paper and then cut an oval into it positioned so that my rose would rest against the ochre color. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink and a Spellbinders stampset and then adhered the focal point onto the card and added three yellow flatback pearls from my stash.

I will have another card coming up using a different image and a different shape, but using the same merging technique. Watch this space!
