The Pupil

Time for a new challenge at the World Wide Open Design Team Challenge blog. This month I got to work with this cute image called The Pupil by Julia Spiri. Is she not sweet sitting on top of her pile of books?

While this card is created in a traditional manner, I did size her in Silhouette Studio so that I could determine her size exactly. I also created the oval around her so that I could shape it better than any of the dies I have in my stash. I printed her out onto Canson C' a Grain Drawing paper and colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I left the books uncolored so that they are understood as not yet having been read - thus the little bit of color on the one that she is reading. That red was added with a stardust gel pen.

I returned her to the Silhouette after she was colored and cut the oval out. I created another oval as an offset from the first and cut it out of pink cardstock. I had this lovely pink plaid paper in my stash and I created a cardpanel from it for this card. I added the pink oval matte and added a strip of sparkly champagne colored washi tape across it before adding my focal image to the matte.

I completed my card by cutting the words Read and GROW out of yellow glitter cardstock and placing them on the card.

If you are a member of any design team anywhere in the world, I would like to invite you to share your projects with us at the World Wide Open Design Team Challenge blog.
