While I love my pencils, I am not a watercolorist by any means, so this was pretty much of a challenge. I decided to have a go at some flowers. Well while busy with this, I was reminded again why I don't work with wet medium. The phone rang while I was painting the flowers and so they were actually a bit too dry when I put the cling wrap on them and the paint did not move very much. But I did complete a card with them after adding the detail with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I fussy cut the flowers and added them to a card that I had embossed. I completed the card with two sentiment dies from a set from Spellbinders and a set from Pink Fresh Studios.
And I discovered E6000 spray glue!! It works wonders on the back of intricate dies with no mess. That is how I stacked three layers of that hugs sentiment together.
I decided to try the technique again, hopefully without any interruptions this time, and was able to get my cling wrap onto the paint while it was still good and wet. I was going for an aerial view of the sea washing up to the beach here. I used various shades of blue for the sea.
This time the paint moved well under the cling wrap and it was fun to watch. Once it was dry, I removed the cling wrap and the filled in some shadows on the waves with my pencils and added some white to the breakers for the foam.
I added the watercolored panel to a black cardbase. I completed the card with a one word sentiment for a Scrapbook.com die set cut out of gold foil cardstock with Stick It adhesive on the back
This was definitely a challenge for me and I am really excited to see what BożenA did for this challenge as she is a lot more skilled at her watercolors than I am. Please head over and see her project and leave her a comment while you are there.

I think you should go for watercolors more often, loose paint and foil can paint such amazing scenes and your seaside scene is speechless. I love this card and please don't put this technique aside, because it's the idea and technique that create the masterpieces. A wonderful, unique card.

Great sending hugs card. I love the inspire card. I can't seem to make my own backgrounds very well so I really love seeing what people can do. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are just beautiful, this is a technique I've never heard of and will try now.
